Wood stoves discussion thread.... (UPDATED:PICS PG.2)

I don't think that would help. Air is not coming from anywhere to start a proper draft. Not to knock your stove Bell, but I'd consider investing in a quality stove or I'd just let the DH deal with that one. That one would scare me too!

OK! so its not me!!! well it works for now, i wonder if we could weld something to the bottom?

an investment would be right, but that would take a year to save up for......

Yes. I also think it should have been installed much higher - above the flame. I'll see if I can post a picture of my stove tomorrow.

I was calling the thing on the door a vent, so as not to confuse it with the damper on the pipe.

thatd be nice. my m.i.l. and b.i.l. both have wood stove, but theirs are much different, so i know what the "real" ones should look like.

Yes. I never liked the pipe dampers. I prefer my stove has the bottom drawer and the upper damper so airflow can be completely controlled by me. It's worth paying for a quality stove (at least were I live). Mine is white tile, made in Austria and even has a baking oven for all those sweet potatoes I've been baking for the chickens
