Just a quick update: Today I got up at the crack of dawn and replaced the plastic wire with hardware cloth. A few funny notes:

1. You have to almost take my coop apart to do that replacement. So you can get the cloth up under the layers and stuff. UGH
2. I can't tell you how much hardware cloth I ended up using but a ton. I had to run to the store to buy a 25' roll mid day.
3. If Lowes has the hardware cloth in the chicken wire spot accidentally and you think, "Wow 25' of hardware cloth for only 11.70" It's gonna ring up as $29.70.
4. Lowes will give you the cloth for the 11.70 though because it was their bad and they have it ALL shelved wrong.

5. ZIP ties Erin! Why do you forget the Zip ties! Back to the store.
6. It looks REALLY ghetto now! The hardware cloth just looks more... junk yard. Then I did all the trim work I had wood for. But I'm getting my wood used, so some of it is painted, some of it is scalloped... It's a mess. I'm hoping paint unifies it somewhat so it looks a bit better.

No photos yet. I'm not proud of the aesthetics of it right now. I AM proud of the safety. I added every safety feature I could think of. They are locked down!

Do you want the current state? With the mismatched trim and all? It's a mess! Looks like I built a coop out of stuff I found on the side of the road!

Because I did!

I updated post 1 with a new pic from today of the coop after I changed the plastic wire for the metal and added more mismatched trim. It's really ugly. But it's safe.
