I have made duck goods before with no problem. A week ago I made waffles and my significant other said their stomach felt a little weird about 1 1/2 to 2 hours later, but it passed. This weekend I made cookies and two hours later my significant other was vomiting and felt terrible ill.

I suspect this is a duck egg protein intolerance. Dang it!

I heard once upon a time, I don't recall if it was on here or not, that parents have successfully worked through chicken egg intolerances with their children and now their children are fine. Does anyone know anything about this, if it has been tried with duck eggs, how it is done, and what the possible success rates are?

Gosh I'm sorry to hear that - hopefully someone will have ideas - I just know that I can tolerate duck eggs better than chicken eggs... I don't know the science behind it - so following!!!

Yeah. I try to google "working through egg protein intolerance" and it keeps bringing up egg allergy. This is not the same thing. An egg allergy is sudden, often creating hives and anaphylaxes. An egg protein intolerance occurs a long while after ingesting and often only creates vomiting and or diarrhea.

Is it possible they are eating something she is allergic too and passing it through the eggs?
My ladies only eat Nutrena All flock, and oystercal as a calcium. Oh I do give them peas and a tiny bit of corn since it is so cold outside. But this it. Nothing strange.

Nothing allergetic to anyone, And they are fenced in so they cant find anythjng on their own i magine

Of the people ive seen come here and ask this it never ends well, they usualy stop eating duck eggs. Which sucks!

Yes, they are penned in. Thats what I am afraid of. I have three ladies and I can not keep up with their eggs. I was hoping that since some children have systematically gotten over a chicken egg intolerance, that we could do the same thing and work through it. Well, because I am determined.

I have a protein intolerance in general - which is why I love my duck eggs so much - they are one of the few proteins that don't cause me issues. But when I absolutely have to eat meat (I get steak cravings lol) I have to take Vitamin C chewables - something about the acid in the vitamin c chewables that helps me to process the protein. Again, don't know the science behind it and I'm not a doctor lol - i just read it, tried it and it works for me...

I had a pet duck when I was a child and when she started laying eggs my mother made me eat the eggs. I didn't get sick, however, I would get a headache after eating the egg. I haven't tried a duck egg as an adult so I'm not sure if I would have the same reaction. Curious to find out now. Sorry for this issue. Hope your wife gets through this.
