Hi friends!
Looking for some good advice about worming. I noticed some small white worms in one of my girls poop today. She is completely fine otherwise. I have a flock of seven total. I put ACV in water along with some garlic and I gave her a pea sized amount of Safe-Guard orally. Do I need to treat other flock members with the Safeguard or will the ACV and garlic be sufficient? I haven’t noticed any worms in their poops. I’ve been chasing them around for an hour waiting for each to poo! How come when you want them to poo they don’t!? 😂 Some advice on the best worming method would be great! I hate to treat them all with Safe guard if not necessary… we want the eggs. ☺️🐓

Safeguard has the shortest egg withdrawal of all of the popular worming meds. And some chicken keepers don't even bother with the egg withdrawal since Safeguard is such a safe medicine. I never have.

You do need to treat the others since chickens poop where they eat, so eventually all ingest worm eggs. You will need to treat for two or three days in a row and then again in ten to fourteen days to get the newly hatched worms. Most of my chickens like the apple taste and willingly eat the dose right off the squeeze tube.

Oh! Didn’t realize it was that often! Thank you! This is the Safeguard horse dewormer. Is the pea size amount correct? I know I’ve read that a few times here before.

To Treat Roundworms Only - Safeguard (Fenbendazole ) dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days.

To treat other worms that poultry can have including Roundworms, but excluding Tapeworms - Safeguard (Fenbendazole) dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally for 5 days in a row. No repeat.

Will the five day in a row treatment also kill roundworms? We have roundworms and did five days in a row on our chickens should we repeat in ten days or are we got now?

ETA: I’m an idiot. Never mind.

^^ This.
"Small white worms." Please post a photo of them if possible. Stop the ACV and garlic, they wont do anything.
