Worming chickens - do I really need to throw out eggs?

Valbazen kills capillary worms; the initial dose and another dose in 10 days.
Sorry, what I meant to say was "Safeguard has to be used five days in a row to treat capillary worms, Valbazen only needs to be used once to get a large pecentage of them." I will edite my previuos post to make that more clear.

Hello,

Im new to chickens and recently bought some. My chickens are all different ages, from 6 months to 2 years, and I have no idea if they have been wormed recently or not. So I would like to try to worm them soon. I have learned a bunch from your thread but just wanted to ask a few newbie questions.

1. How do I find out the weight of my chickens? A regular human scale, and hope they don't run away?

2. What is the best way to administer the wormer to the chickens?

3. How often should I worm? Every 90 days?

I hope these questions are not too dumb, I'm just very new and trying to figure it all out!

Thanks,
Josh

I weigh mine on a digital kitchen scale.

And I worm them orally:

Safeguard is most effective when given *five* days in a row at 0.23ml per pound. That dose will treat roundworms, cecal worms, gapeworms, capillary worms, and maybe some species of tapeworms.

Thanks! I will use Safeguard since I already bought it. Definitely buying Valbazen next time! When I bought the Safeguard I thought it was ok to mix with water which obviously it is not - I also thought it was a one-day treatment. Now that I know what a hassle it is going to be to do it correctly I will never buy it again.
