Worming chickens?

Wow, so over this back & forth. It wirks for me but if you need to be right then I guess you are.
Believe what you want, that's fine by me,

but anyone reading this thread needs to know that 1% ivermectin is not water soluble. Don't take it personally, I just like doing these experiments and researching "stuff".

:idunno Sooo, I have never wormed my chickens, and have looked carefully at their poops on occasion, but have never seen eggs, actual worms, or anything other than what is pictured as "normal" in the literature. I mix garlic powder, oregano, and sage in their feed, maybe that is helping? I'm not really wanting to give them anything that would necessitate discarding their eggs, but want to make sure they stay healthy.

Only a fecal exam will show evidence of worms, other than round or maybe tape worms you can't see the worm eggs in the poop with the naked eye.

Only worms that are big enough to easily see are roundworms and tapeworm segments. All other worms are too small. Eggs from all worms can only be seen under a scope. Gather up a bunch of fresh poop, place in baggie, stir well, take to vet and have them look for worm eggs.

You might also want to google garlic for birds as it can be toxic to them.

Ok, thank you! I'll get some poop samples mixed up and take that to the vet - I was wondering about samples from each, that would be expensive!
