Most people do not take their chickens to the vet. Most vets do not see chickens. Many simply refuse or charge astronomical amounts of money for their services. I can't see a day when I'll take a chicken's poop for a fecal test, not unless I become some big time breeder and have lots of $$ at stake; that is, if I can even find one who will do it. Most folks become their own chicken vets. I just did crop surgery myself last night, and not for the first time, either. Many here do know more than most regular veterinarians do about chickens.
