Worms? Lice? Impacted Crop?

Hi Everyone- This girl started feeling ill a few weeks ago. It started presenting with loss of balance so I originally thought bumblefoot. Then her feathers started falling out. When I looked at her she had a ton of dander on her skin under the feathers. So I treated for lice/mites using permethrin and garden dust. She then started to look malnourished so I treated whole flock for worms (first time in 5 years I’ve ever treated for worms). Her feathers are looking better and balance seems to be getting better but she still has a strange body posture. Her crop does not smell sour. Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

Wow! It sounds like you're really treating her for everything. I would separate her from the other chickens, just in case they can possibly catch this. That way you can also monitor her symptoms more closely. But from her 'penguin position' it looks as if she may be egg bound (possibly from all the stress from the other illnesses). You need to take care of this right away, or she may die. If she's egg bound, then you can try to help her. If not, then at least that's not the problem. It's always better to check and be safe. I would only seperate her from the flock if she is being picked on. If she does have something contagious, they would already have been exposed. Separating her will only create re-integration problems later.

Checking for a stuck egg is a good idea. Palpate right beneath her vent on down between her legs. See if you can feel any eggs.

What does her poop look like? Has she been pooping regularly?

Thanks for the replies. Not egg bound that I can tell. Poop looks normal, just a little dry. Other girls haven’t been picking on her so we just let her be because they all would have been infected at this point with whatever is going on.
