I left them down there just until I run & get some cat food!-- but they are SO grounded when they get home! I think today they just need to stay in the pin. This momma has had about all I can take for awhile!! **** ducks! Lol!!!

I am sooo happy everyone is safe. My ducks free range on my pond but gladly follow me into their pen before dark every night where they are then locked up at night. I do not free feed my ducks so they look forward to and easy meal lol:ya:yiipchick
Do you not want them over at the pond at all ?

One thing I've noticed that seems really strange to me. My chickens put themselves into their runs or coops at night and all I have to do is shut the door. The ducks are another story. They go in and out during the day to eat at their feeder but they don't put themselves to bed. When I come out early dusk, it's as if they are waiting and go right into their pen, but if I am late, they will settle down elsewhere without going in and I need to find them. Then they will go right in if I get them up and moving towards their pen.
Someone else said her ducks do the same thing (different breed) so I am wondering if this is just a duck thing?

It must be. I am having a time with my babies here the past few days. They have been going to the pond but at dusk I go get them & they go into their house until moring. Well the last couple of nights it's just been impossible to get them home- & my male is been acting crazy too. I think he is coming into adult hood & wants to be the boss! My hen who I have had longer will listen too me, then my Drake will tell her something in duck talk & she goes right back in the pond. I've tried cat food, eggs, their regular feed. I'm worried about them & want them home! Once they get home they will not be let out to free range for a couple of days. They will be grounded. Yall what can I do too get them from the pond??

Fencing is about it. They know the pond is there it is always going to be a big draw. Once you get them home your going to have to keep them there. If the pond is too large to walk into and herd them you might need to find some one with a kayak or small boat.

@Miss Lydia it's small enough I can walk into it. That's my next tatic! I just can't get over how stubborn & rebellious they're being!!
They are growing up and being independent but they don't realize the dangers waiting for them once it gets dark. I hope you can get them home.
