My guinea fowl were not friendly at all they would always start flying around screaming for no reason. And mine were full grown when I got them so that might be why they were attacking the chickens so much but they probably would've attacked them anyway. Once I had enough of them, I released them in a field and never saw them again. I dont know what happened to them and I dont really care either. Were your guys Guinea Fowl always ean? Or did they change? Mine are under a year old and I love them, they will follow me around and let me pet them, I just hope that doesnt change (mine are not free ranging because we read how terrible they are at it).
That is probably why. They take a while to fully tame, I hope mine stay sweet one tey get hormonal....My guinea fowl were not friendly at all they would always start flying around screaming for no reason. about 8 months oldHow old are they? I have 2 of them at 16 weeks old today, and they seem healthy and smart but very flighty. Even almost jumping out of a seven foot fence. Super hard to catch them.![]()
They are not mean, just loud and unpersonable. I’m glad yours are lovely and lovable though. Were your guys Guinea Fowl always ean? Or did they change? They will change. They’ll also get a lot more world-wary as they mature. Were your guys Guinea Fowl always ean? Or did they change? Mine are bossy too, which is a good thing. Silkies have a very good jumping ability.I have a 16 week old buff Silkie hen and she’s very smart. She’s not aggressive but she sure knows how to defend her territory and for some reason I’ve seen her at the top of the higher roosting place where almost everyone wants to be at night. Quite strange. I thought she would be getting picked on by other bossier hens but no. She can be a little fire cracker sometimes.
Do they commonly injure and/or kill each other? They will change. They’ll also get a lot more world-wary as they mature.
Their aggression is not human directed though. Its aggression towards other galliforms that makes them hateful. Torwards humans they know they’re fine. Mine have a tendency to enjoy human company. When the flock was larger they would lay down around me if I sat in the grass.
