Were your guys Guinea Fowl always ean? Or did they change? Mine are under a year old and I love them, they will follow me around and let me pet them, I just hope that doesnt change (mine are not free ranging because we read how terrible they are at it).

My guinea fowl were not friendly at all they would always start flying around screaming for no reason. And mine were full grown when I got them so that might be why they were attacking the chickens so much but they probably would've attacked them anyway. Once I had enough of them, I released them in a field and never saw them again. I dont know what happened to them and I dont really care either.

That is probably why. They take a while to fully tame, I hope mine stay sweet one tey get hormonal....
They are very fearful birds though, not of me, but when my neighbor mows the lawn, they all start screaming. Still love them though.

They are not mean, just loud and unpersonable. I’m glad yours are lovely and lovable though.

I’ve had mixed experiences with Orpingtons . Had one from McM that was extremely tame and broody. She didn’t lay the greatest because of her broodiness, but was a decent pet. Kept her for several years, unfortunately came home one afternoon to find a hawk had gotten through a hole in the top of the run and was standing over her.
A few years ago got a few Orpington both Buff and Lavender, from TSC, neither variety of those were layers at all hardly, the lavender did go broody once and raised chicks. The lavender roosters were moderately aggressive. Hated that lavender color. Would never have that again.
Red Stars and Golden Comets are not birds I like either, they have too many laying issues and eggs don’t seem to be very good quality for long at all.
Meanest roosters have been a white leghorn and a free silver spangled Hamburg that came with an order. Both of those were vile little creatures.

They will change. They’ll also get a lot more world-wary as they mature.

Their aggression is not human directed though. Its aggression towards other galliforms that makes them hateful. Torwards humans they know they’re fine. Mine have a tendency to enjoy human company. When the flock was larger they would lay down around me if I sat in the grass.

I have a 16 week old buff Silkie hen and she’s very smart. She’s not aggressive but she sure knows how to defend her territory and for some reason I’ve seen her at the top of the higher roosting place where almost everyone wants to be at night. Quite strange. I thought she would be getting picked on by other bossier hens but no. She can be a little fire cracker sometimes.
Mine are bossy too, which is a good thing. Silkies have a very good jumping ability.

Do they commonly injure and/or kill each other?
