worst Christmas present

Oh... this past reminded me that in 1987 my ex husband left me on Christmas Day. I came home from Church, and his side of the closet was empty. Goodness... I'd completely forgotten that!

I wish that would have happened to me. I tried to get the ex to leave for a long time. I finally gave up and left.

After working really hard to loose some weight, my (now ex husband) went and bought me a sexy slinky dress.......

Unfortunately, he did not realize that dresses were not sold in the "foundations" department of the department store...

yes that is right, he bought me a girdle.

Did I mention the ex husband part.

(in his defense-he thought it was a sexy black dress)

when I was a freshmen in highschool my aunt sent me a bunch of shirts from old navy, at the time I was a medium, maybe a large, and all the shirts she sent were XXXL. I was mortified, and yes, tears were shed...

Not sure which is worse...

A quick background....my Great-grandmother, Nana, called me Buttercup.

Years after Nana passed away, my Aunt got me a book that was called "Buttercup". It was a babies' book, the thick cardboard pages, maybe 6 pages total, but 2 inches thick with lots of pictures. I was 18 at the time. I understand that it said "Buttercup", but really? A cardboard baby book?

Another one was from my uncle...a hard cover Star Trek book. I was 10 yrs old at the time. Oh, and I am a female.

What 10 yr old girl would read a 500 page Star Trek book? I was very
polite, but much preferred by scrabble games, music, etc that I received that year.

Now if you ask my DH, he will say the vacuum he bought me. I am very practical; however, so I ask for what I need. I moved in with him and he had this crummy vacuum that sucked in the wrong departments (unfortunately, not the floor). I missed my Dyson that I left with my ex. So, our very first Xmas together, I asked for a Dyson vacuum. It was a $400 vacuum! Why would I ask for a vacuum as an everyday gift PLUS a Xmas gift!

I was VERY happy...he; however, thinks it is lame that he gave in and bought me a vacuum. I tell him, that it is ok since I asked for it! haha!! We still have it and absolutely love it!

Last year I asked for a new sewing machine...he says that is sorta ok...still an appliance-type item, but at least it is better than a vacuum.

Funny I have a photo from that day... With a smile even!

My daughter, who at the time lived on the next block, came over to keep me company. We went to a local park and made a snowman. It had snowed on Christmas Eve! Which is NOT normal for Tucson, AZ!

The worst present i ever got was when i was 6, our neighbor who lived across the street, was such a very nice man, & he always gave me a Christmas Present, well that Christmas he came over & was talking with my grandparents, & I came walking through the living room, & he said cmere, i got cha sumthin! so i was all excited, he opened the front door and gave me this monster sized box of crackerjacks!

(i just don't like em) my whole face must have dropped...lol, so here i was with this BIG box filled with stuff i didn't like, but it was cool, all my friends liked them.......lol

I always give hints for practical stuff that I could use every day. I loved getting a leaf blower, vacuum, cookwear, appliances etc. Then one Christmas, when me and DH (then long-time boyfriend) were just getting started out on our own.....I got a chess set from my mother. A chess set???? Really, I didn't even have time for board games let alone chess...Hey I had 2 jobs

I've kept it for nearly 8 years and never opened the box.

I hope he gets you a Bernina sewing machine.

And I adore my Dyson vacuum too, and I don't think that I would ever consider owning a different brand of vacuum.
