We get snakes from time to time but tonight was horrendous. I'll spare all the details other than we killed 3 copperheads. One was in the coop, another making it's way to the coop and then another hanging out in close proximity. All this occurred within 20 minutes. All the ducks were freaked out but thankfully Margarita gave us the typical warning sounds she does when something isn't right. She's going to get a handful of peas tomorrow.

We've used the Ortho brand "Snake B Gon" but does anyone have any further suggestions on what we can do?

Wondercide is a totally natural and safe product that no only repelled snakes, but also fleas, ticks, mites, ants, mosquitos and a huge array or other things. We use the outdoor version because we have a massive overabundance of mosquitos and occasional ticks, plus use the dog formula. I had no idea it worked for snakes until I read it on the bottle after use, after I noticed no snakes about. We went from two or three around our house every week, sometimes more, to none the entire remainder of summer. We only have garter and bull snakes though. Copperheads would scare me half to death! So glad you discovered and dispatched them before they could cause any harm!

I would check for a nest and tend to that too though. Seems you must to have so many show up.

Thanks for the feedback. I just ordered some Wondercide on Amazon.

You'll love it! I hope it works for copperheads like it does for our snakes. I got it on Amazon once from a third party seller and it seemed somewhat diluted, I hate to say. I now order directly from Wondercide. If you create an account, you get a 10-20% coupon, too, or used to.

I recently read that copperheads breed and have their babies around this time of year and young copperheads are the worst and aggressive! We used to get them on our porches! Since we have two tame barn cats living on the porches- haven't seen a snake since! They sleep under the barn ( half of which was converted to coop) Last spring i cleaned a few flower beds out in yard and was shocked I did not come across any snakes!!! I am dreading the first time I find one in the coop.... praying the cats keep them away!!!

@aliciaFarmer - You got my interest & checked it out on Amazon, ingredient is Cedar Oil ... I've read that cedar is not recommended for chickens due to their respiratory system. Hence pine shavings recommended instead of cedar. I may just try it around the yard, not around my chickens.
