Worst predator for the south?

My biggest problem has been the hawks and falcons. The falcons tend to get my young birds that are not much bigger than them. The chickens are locked in at night so I don't have a problem with the night-time predators.

A 12 gauge loaded with rock salt it won't kill the dog but it will dang sure burn like the dickens.

Also try a live trap build it big enough to catch it then when you do spray it with water and tell it no in very strong voice repeat often then find out who own s the dog and talk to him about keeping it tied up or off your land then tell them or I will shoot it.

Throw a net over top of your run if you free range don't unless you are there If you are able to hang old Cd's on fishing line in the open areas (this goes for the netting as well cheap throw away pie pans work as well) the birds see it and if light hits it just right it throws them off so they zone in on the chickens.

In my area I would say racoons because they have caused themost damage around here for the last few years. During this time of year Bobcats and coyotes are more of a problem than other times of the year. Domestic dogs can wipe out an entire flock in short order. Hawks and owls can be a pest. Ive noticed towns along the nonsense River has Red Foxes and i would imagine they could hurt people there. Where I live theres a few grey foxes but their rarely a problem. Public enemy number 1 where I live would be the ole masked bandit most of the time.
