Honestly, I am in shock. The eggs arrived today. I must say, I have never seen such terrible packaging. The eggs arrived with polyester batting around them in an egg carton with 1/2 an egg carton below and another 1/2 carton above...all in a priority box. No padding of any kind around the carton. Two of the eggs were completely broken. The contents of those eggs spread onto the other eggs which then dried and caused the polyester batting placed around the eggs to stick to the intact eggs. I am waiting to candle the eggs before I leave my feedback. I do not expect them all to develop, however, if the yolks are detached and floating around - I would say it is at least 50% due to the incredibly poor packaging. I have never ever received eggs that were not wrapped in bubble wrap and/or a paper towel, in a carton, with the box packed/padded with either shredded paper or plastic bags. I am in shock at what I unpacked today! I can just picture that lone egg carton bouncing around all the way here. I will definitely be asking any future sellers exactly how they package the eggs. Lesson learned.

Anyone else have any terribly shipped eggs stories?

I have not had that experience.
Then again, I have only done a personal pick-up.

I'm sorry about those eggs! Any chance you could get a refund due to their own poor packaging?

I'm not sure. I have messaged the seller (eBay) to let them know the situation. Have not heard back yet (it's only been a couple of hours). So bummed though. And just generally surprised that they thought that was adequate shipping.

I got eggs in yesterday and they used the smallest box that the PO had for priority mail. 8 eggs and one was crushed. The box was actually leaking.

OK - well, I'm sorry for your losses too but at least I feel a little bit better. I'm not really sure what to say to the seller. Obviously I'll be leaving accurate & specific feedback. Do you think I have any footing to ask for eggs in better packaging or a partial refund if they all have floater yolks? Or is it just part of the gamble of having eggs shipped?

I would say definately ask for better shipped eggs, I would probably pay the shipping if it was me, but I don't think you'd be out of line asking for them to pay shipping. You paid for eggs and its thei.r responsibility to package decently, it may not prevent breaks, but it sounds like they don't have any idea what they are doing.

The worst packing job ever was done by my friend. She was trying to test her packaging "method" so she sent me a dozen eggs, in an egg carton with a few pieces of foam in the box. The carton was literally free moving in the box.

When USPS delivers your package wrapped in a plastic bag you know it's not good. I had to open the smelly mess and 1 egg survived--I thought that was a miracle.

Luckily for everyone, my friend has stuck to local pickup only LOL

IMHO the crap shoot in buying shipped is from the treatment of the box after it leaves the sellers hands. I believe it is the responsibility of the seller to ensure that they have done all they can to make sure they packed well enough to withstand the treatment the USPS metes out.

HELL YEAH ask for a refund!!!

Did they send you extras? If not i definately would ask for SOMETHING from them. Most legit and caring breeders or egg sellers will send with an extra few to cover for shipping problems.
