Would like opinions on this chick starter please. 16% vs 20% protein.

i wouldnt give them medicated feed if theres nothing wrong with them...in my opinion it just weakens the immune system when theyre not even sick and then if u do need medicated feed one day for whatever reason, it wont work nearly as well, JMO

Dumor 24% i got 50 pd bag other day at TS, chic starter, as i have 10 more due to hatch on the 18th , 17 chics little over two weeks now, currently im using 20% Dumor chic starter, it's a little pricey but when i got some of my chics at TS i got a coupon so like with puppys always best to keep them on what they start on for best results..... 17 fluffys i have now are growing like weeds, hatched 10 from my own, i have 5 frizzle mixes , there soo cute to, first hatch was frizzle /speckled sussex mix, due to hatch soon with be SLW/frizzle, and Old English bantys

My addiction to chickens has increased daily lol

The only thing that medicated feed will do is PREVENT the REPRODUCTION of a PROTOZOA called COCCI. It is only there to help the chicks build immunity to cocci, and only cocci, IF they are exposed to it early on.

It will not cure cocci, will not stop cocci if there is too much, and does not stop ANY diseases. It is NOT a vaccine or even a cure to any disease, just an inhibitor of protozoa development.

The medication in chick starter is a thiamine blocker to help them fight coccidiosis, not an antibiotic. It wont weaken the immune system. Lately, though, the amprolium at the preventative dosage in chick starter doesnt seem to be as effective as it used to be. I'm no longer feeding medicated feed and only treating when and if they show signs of cocci.

*** sorry, silkiechicken, posted the same thing at the same time, LOL.
