Would like to start raising poultry for profit

I forgot in my first suggestion that you also get to sell point of lay birds, your culls.. the ones that don't meet your BREEDING standard.

Selling off older birds before their 2nd or 3rd molt.. either as older layers or even in breeding trios.. or use as soup hens. Of course grow out cockerels go to your pot or sold!

Make $ at EVERY stage! :bun

If I could sell eating eggs for $13/dozen consistently.. I'm there.. that's much easier than breeding and hatching.

Dude mistakes happen. That response was rude.
1. I am not a dude, I am a grandmother and I find it rude for you to call someone dude that you do not know.

2. My comment was intended to be helpful. One cannot just jump into a business because one has money and a desire to make money. One must be prepared and knowledgeable, unless he intends to fail spectacularly. This poster has asked for guidance. Clearly, that is what he needs.

I mostly let the buyer pick the price but I've sold eggs from $10 to $17

There is quite a large Latino community here that would buy older hens and roosters to eat.
If I was selling an older hen or rooster for meat. Would it be alive or dead? What price sounds fair?
