aquariums are fine as brooders but not recommended for adults. They do not have enough air circulation and b/c of this bacteria ,etc. tends to quickly build up ,endangering their health...so i'm told.
I made my cages. They are 1/2 " hardware cloth ...11 1/2" X 11 !/2" X 16" ...i used "J" clips to connect the wire together ( soooo easy ..even I can do it...lol)
for the base/tray i got lightweight metal "flashing"( 24" w ) and after marking the pattern out with a permanent marker, i used regular (sharp) scissors to cut it out. Once the pattern was cut out ,i folded the metal, using a straight edge at the marks for the sides /ends. Then i used Duct tape around the sharp edges to prevent cuts and to attach to corners together.
It all REALLY is EASY. AND when you make your own you can make it any way you want /need it to be ...each cage cost me about 5.00 to make .
