I just find it odd that the thread would be shut down if this breeder's name is mentioned...but I have yet to see a thread trashing TSC shut down. It's not that I want to see anyone trashed - but I do want some clarification about the rules as I don't see the difference. Or is it a moderator preference?

3. No Flaming (verbally attacking people or groups of people - e.g. a profession, an organization, a company.)

This is interpreted to mean that you can't post the name of the seller, whether they are a BYC member or not. "BackYardChickens staff spend a TON of time and energy to keep the forum running smoothly. How BackYardChickens staff moderate is never a topic for open discussion on the forum. If you have any questions or feedback on moderation it should be addressed to the Administrator or the specific moderator via email or private message."

Personally, I think it should be handled privately.

Thank you for your clarification. Interpretations can differ and I appreciate having an understanding of this forum moderator's. My interpretation of "flaming" is not the same. However, it's not my forum! Thanks again and I do appreciate all the work moderators put into this site.

yup--thats how it works--no hurry to get back to you since they have your $ BUTTTT if you were getting ready to send them $ for something -lickety split you get a reply!

Yep, Your absolutely right on that Nat.

There is a difference between a flame and stating that you got a poor quality item for a certain price. Yes I agree one should not flame. But if I got on here and said I bought x number of bottles of oxine from so-and-so company and they were improperly shipped no one would think twice. Saying "I received a sick bird from so and so" is NOT a flame. There is a distinct difference.

Not something you want to do on this forum. I would hate to have to moderate it.

Sorry you feel that way! I firmly believe that all of us BYC'ers DESERVE to know the sellers that would sell and ship birds in that unaceptable condition. Moderate as you will, but it's criminal to protect the guilty bum! How about protecting the innocent buyers instead?

At the risk of being flamed, it seems as though this issue has been overdone a bit. It was disappointing that a reputable breeder would ship out a bird with parasites and I certainly understand the OP's chagrin and even anger, but the bandwagoning is not constructive.

There may be extenuating circumstances of which none of us are aware. Take it up with the seller and please do not make this person's name public. JMO...
