Would you ever leave...

I want to thank everyone so much for their replies and responses. Just so you know, I have not and will not Ever leave one of my 'kids' home alone to have their young and assume everything goes along fine. I have heart failure already when I have to leave them in the care of anyone else for Any amount of time. I was asking, because I have heard of it happening and was just wondering if I was the only one who would never do such a thing. When I first heard of the situation I was shocked and appalled by it, and have tried wrapping my brain around the idea, trying to see it from different angles. But I always come back to the thinking that it just isn't right. However, maybe I was missing something(?) So thank you all for helping me out!!! I really do appreciate it.

Well, mentioning leaving kids alone....24 years ago when my sister was pregnant with my nephew, it was her first and she is a bit of a drama queen. Anyway, we all bundled up 2 or 3 times and went to the hospital cause "she was in labor". Each time Dr said false labor....
The last time, my mom said (and she was partly joking) when they wheel her into delivery call us........

Now years ago I had to have an emergency appendectomy and my parents were no where to be found, this was before cell phones and in the age of beepers. Parents had gone out of town for the weekend and my sister could not get in touch with them, but they did not knowingly leave me in an emergency.

Awww, what sweet stories Lockedhearts!!! I am sure your parents felt so bad when they came home and found out you had been in the hospital!!! In this particular situation though I was meaning 'kids' as in my pets.

I don't get vacation time and have no animals that give birth, so I guess I luck out.

I would go on vac if all was going well. I also would leave my pets only in the care of my parents. FYI: I also only leave my kids with my parents. Don't trust anyone else.

I would only leave if it was an emergency situation..

I gotta say, it depends. We raise goats, someone is dang near always pregnant. We only go away once a year, all of us at one time anyway. My neighbors are capable and will watch out. We have our reservations for vacation in august this year. All my cats/dogs are fixed, but yea, if I have paid for a vacation I will not willingly breed anyone. But if they GET pregnant, no, I can't lose all that money and disappoint the human children I have, so I would have to say in some circumstances, yes, I would leave them.

"If I were responsible for her being pregnant, I also have a responsibility to help her deliver safely."
I feel the same way HEchicken does. Unless there was an emergency involving family.
