Would You Let Your 16 Year Old Sail Across The World Alone?

A 16 year old started out in 2008 and finished in 2009, solo. He used the Panama Canal, though, and skipped the Cape Horn passage and the lower latitudes where the most serious dangers are.

OOh i know that that happend. Awesome kid! But i just dont think most are 'really' ready for something like that. Just my opinion..

If the girl has had proper training, in boat handling, and has done some solo sorties, there is only one chance to do what she plans to do... Maybe, she is trying set a record, as the first teenage girl, to sail the world alone. Pretty hard to do, when you're 20 yr. old.

I have a two nephews who got their skydiving licenses, at the age of 16&17. Of course, if they didn't have a crazy uncle, who falls out of the sky, along with their dad, they might not have done it....What a great way to sort out your brain.

But he went from bouncing around Europe, to heading off, into the great unknown, without a clue..... He could have fallen off the edge of the Earth, you know?
