Would you rent to me?!!! Small rant

What about finding a trailer park that has some super cheap "fixer upper" trailer to buy. Not sure how long of a time period you're looking at, or how drastic of a lifestyle change that would be. Renters are SOOO notorious for horribly trashing places. Even ones that were tidy clean freaks can get upset with a landlord and take it out on the property. It seems more like damage control to not allow pets. Small pets you can usually sneek in and hope no one discovers....or hope the landlord caves when they see how valuable of a tenant you are. If the big dogs are service dogs, isn't there a fair housing act that would protect them and you from discrimination?

As a former landlord of both a home and apartments, I would say that yes I would rent to you at a home, with a hefty deposit. Like $2000. You need to look at the landlord's point of view. They don't know you or the dogs. $2000 is on the conservative side too, 4 dogs COULD do alot of damage and that is what a landlord is looking at.

Of course you could pony up the deposit and then after a few years time, they could inspect and refund if all is good. Bichons don't shed but I know for a fact at least one has eaten walls!!!!!

This kinda sounds like fun. Just one dumb question whats a travel trailer? Is it the same as a rv? Is this a good thing in iowa winters? Our duaghter is 6months old. Is her starting to crawl a problem? If its the same as a rv there is a ton for sale by us. Whats a koa? Sorry we dont camp a lot and if we do its with tents.

Ive found one place where we could have them but its as much as our house now. So whats the point? Trying to see if the labs can live with my in laws till we find something. Then it should be easier to find something. Wish someone would just meet the dogs then they could see they are trained to high heaven. Wish people wouldnt ruin it for others.

RV= Recreational vehicle. Some people lump all kinds of trailers in this category, others limit it to motor homes.

Motor homes=vehicle w/a house built into it. All one unit, there's no car or truck to unhitch

Travel Trailer=tows behind a vehicle

Camper=slides into the back of a pick-up.

5th wheel. Kind of like a cross between a camper and a travel trailer. It has a "hitch" that goes in the back of the pick-up.

I would in a heart beat. I have a bunch of animals, I would not be a hypocrite to deny you a place to live, and your animals too. Also, I hate that people automatically deny you for your animals when they do not even know them or how they behave, but will let people with a bunch of kids move in without a problem. When kids can be just as bad and worse then have a few dogs.

Hmm maybe the big depsotis something to think about. Id even let them meet the dogs if they wanted. Glad some of you would take a chance on me though.

With a large deposit, you really need to nail down the conditions so that both you and the landlord are protected. He will have sufficient funds to clean and repair any damage; you will have it returned along with interest earned if there is no damage and everything is spot-free and odorless.

I would if I had a very large deposit (around $2000- $2500) and if I was able to see your home or get references beforehand.

I live in a college town and would much rather rent to a family with dogs than to a gang of college students with no rental history. Some students are great, but if you get a bad batch the damage that can be inflicted on a property is mind boggling.

KOA is Kampgrounds of America. There are much cheaper places to rent. Iowa winter should not be too big of a deal I wouldn't think...never been to Iowa, but seems like everywhere has folks living in those somewhere. Open dates will be a lot different. When we were out of work, our contingency plan if we lost the house was park ours on my mom's extra lot, underpen it, and live there until we saved enough for another house. THANKFULLY that did NOT happen, but it could've. Anyway, shop around a bit more for some 'off the beaten path' RV parks, they are generally less expensive, but have most of the needed ammenities such as laundry and camp shops. PM me your area and I will look in my Woodall's catalog to try to help you find a place. Some of those spots can't even be found via Google!!! I know...weird! Woodall's is a nationwide campground directory. Triple A has some camp books out too. I may still have some of their directories that would apply to your area. Oh, and it being "as much as the house"...only if your house is provided electric, and water in that ammount. Don't forget most of utilities and such are INCLUDED in the price of a month stay. That could be savings of a few hundred bucks per month. From the sale of your home, you could pay off the trailer and dump the rest in a money market account while you wait to save some to put with it for a down payment on another home. That way your money is making even more money while you save! OR buy a plot of land you like, get setup with a power pole and waste tank and live on site while you build your dream home

We have soooooooooo thought about doing just that, and may yet!
