Wow, just found this community, I am not alone anymore....

Welcome to BYC. You will find lots of people here who can help with questions. Several of us are also in New Jersey. You should check out the New Jersey State thread although to be honest it is not very active.
Thank you, and good to know you are in New Jersey too! Perhaps New Jersey has more restrictions to residents, so we have small community here.

I found that raising my own flock can well utilize my handyman's skills as well.

Just recently I found that I So I am interested in seeing how people can live with that in this beautiful country..., that's why I like to join this community...
Welcome Gordon. I thought I would not be able to have hens in my town so I tucked them in the corner of my backyard privacy fence.

well after tucking this little coop for our 5 hens in our back yard the neighbors put up a coop in plain view! So there goes that rumor. Our coop/ run is only 6 foot tall to be hidden by fence top. Well no problem here as I'm only 5 ft. tall! No roosters here, but I can get fertilized eggs from some friends if needed.
I'm glad you are a handy man, so is my husband. I wish you good fortune on your girls. I love having fresh eggs.
