Wrath's Marans

Keep it spreading.... I need more. 🤣
Yesterday while collecting eggs I noticed someone had lined one of the nest boxes with black feathers. Today Lacy my GLW was in that box and protested with a growl and some pecking when I took her eggs. I don’t think she is fully committed yet but she’s heading that way. In the past she has been extremely hard to break she has successfully raised 4 chicks for me last summer.

@wrathsfarm ill say it's been busy since coming back from vacation I have had 30 to 35 chicks hatch sold them more to come and had to wash my 5 brahmas for mites and mite eggs:rant My brahmas must of been very sad because after a nice warm bath and cleaning they laid 9 fertile eggs. :love. I also lost a production red hen 4 years old to a hard belly. The life of a chicken farmer.:celebrate

Update... Been crazy busy with everything around here.
The Maticoopx30 was out of stock, but the wife surprised me and ordered the x20 after being bummed out about that.
My daughter decided she wanted chickens the first delivery day on the 28th at the feed store but needs a coop built yet so here we are with these 5 little bantam type fluffy butts. Super quick spur of the moment set up until I can get the brooder set up and no one read the sign apparently so they're mystery chicks still. 2 blues and 3 have feathered feet.

Maybe the 3 with feathered legs are bantam partridge cochins or Mille fluer d'ullce, those are my guesses 🤪 Cutie patooties, even if I'm not into small chickens!

My fun update is the pullets eggs I set last fall from Jessie and hatched 3 girls. Jessie is Joannie's daughter so these are F2's
All 3 are laying now and need to get more egg pics posted from them but this gal is impressing me with her first 4 eggs.View attachment 4067228
Very nice!

There's 3 different... 2 blues have feathered feet. 1 single odd ball has feathers also.
2 chipmunks have no feathered feet.

I think you might be right on the cochin theory, tho. I know nothing about these breeds.
When I got the text to scramble the brooder together I caught bantam, booted, and Cochin key words.
My OCD goes off the rails with mystery chicks. Then the voice says ... "You want chickens for your own eggs? But then get chickens that lay a 1/2 an egg?"

Disclaimer...she's my daughter, and yes I give her eggs whenever she wants. I even give her Marans eggs when I have them. But she some how theorized she wants her own....
