I’m getting a lot of new egg customers as well and the regulars are asking for larger quantities. One of my regulars who has been getting 2 dozen every couple weeks has asked for 7 dozen twice. So I asked her why the sudden increase. Turns out her daughters are new to me customers on the home delivery plan.

I have also had a couple people asking if I sell chicks when they find out I’m hatching eggs. So I guess I’ll be loading up the incubator again once the current batch is done.

Are you going to be joining the Easter Hatch-Along?

I was in last year’s hatch along with an incubator and a broody hen. But somehow this year has been going by so quickly I haven’t really considered it. Easter is late this year and I have plans to be out of town on the Fourth of July week. I’ll have to think about things I don’t want to leave the chicken sitter any more responsibility than I have to.

If your not selling hatching eggs, you should be. I've sold 15 dozen since I started on 2/5, so a little over a month.
My BCMs are double the mixed per dozens and have only sold 3 dozen of those.
Everyone seems to want BCMs.

I have considered selling hatching eggs but until I successfully hatch out a couple batches myself I won’t consider these as hatching eggs. My current round started with 19 eggs I pulled 8 out as clear at lockdown. To be honest I’m not totally convinced all eleven remaining are viable those dark green ones are really hard to see anything when I candle them.

So I’m currently less than 60% fertilization I can’t in good conscience sell these as hatching eggs. It was below freezing outside when I collected some of these so maybe they just got too cold before I started them.

On a side note I did find a local legbar breeder. He hasn’t separated his legbars, Marans, and OE, into breeding pins for the season yet. He is currently offering them as a rainbow assortment. I told him I would wait for pure lines. As much as I want multi generation backcross OE I want to know exactly what they are to start out so I can breed forward
