I've only had 2, now 1 SLW. So not tons of experience with them but both mean and bullies. I heard this from others also.Ok, why no Wyandottes?
I have my own opinion and want to compare notes![]()
I'm going to re home her soon.

I have 5 SLW from TSC, one is a feather picker and has broken the ends off all the saddle feathers of the other 4, only 1 SLW looks pristine, the other 4 all look like I have a rooster in there, but I don't.I've only had 2, now 1 SLW. That's where mine came from also...and I had the mixed flock before I got the Marans obsession so there's that now also...I have 5 SLW from TSC, one is a feather picker and has broken the ends off all the saddle feathers of the other 4, only 1 SLW looks pristine, the other 4 all look like I have a rooster in there, but I don't.
I'm not impressed by these girls, but they are also hatchery stock so I'm trying not to be too critical of the breed overall, so if I hatch a nice pullet from these wyandotte eggs from a breeder, I'll give it a chance.
Agreed, Wyandottes are like stuck up aristocratsYou can bring the Orpingtons leave the Wyandottes....not a fan.![]()
You have to start somewhere, and I think you have some lovely birds! Do keep in mind that not everyone is looking for birds that conform to the SOPReally not a lot of eggs because I just didn't have them....They're all broody..
Didn't set any eggs from Momma or Dbl yellow because their eggs are too light. I might do a test hatch in the future, but as it stands I should just move them along. Jett and Copper I wanted to, but they both went broody, but they both have decent hackle color especially 'Copper' so Im fearing more over coloring from them.
This is where I'm aiming to go. Or just get to a point I can sell good looking eggs and be confident I'm producing good birds. It's a hard start, but it's a start.....![]()
Aww... thank you.You have to start somewhere, and I think you have some lovely birds! Do keep in mind that not everyone is looking for birds that conform to the SOPI bet your OE's would be a big hit for regular ol folks
I've never had an OE yet, still on my "need to have one day" list! You have to start somewhere, and I think you have some lovely birds! Do keep in mind that not everyone is looking for birds that conform to the SOPI bet your OE's would be a big hit for regular ol folks
