Thank ya ...Wow, I love that brooder!![]()
It's been thru a few chicks and alot of abuse as I store feed, etc. in it when not in use. I need to rehab it one of these days.

6 is a good start, so, when is the next batch of eggs going in?Final count for the hatch is 6.
2 from Gloria so these are F2s from Betty and 4 from Jessi and also F2s from Joannie. Very happy about these 4 as Jessi was laying the darkest egg of all the pullets so excited to see what these girls lay for color.
I ended up bringing in the brooder as the heat lamp wasn't keeping a consistent temp with our wide temp swings here the last few days. 60-80-60F
Much more better, now and of course safer.
The last one hatched yesterday, 2 days past hatch day so I'm going to keep them in the house a few more days and then move them out to the coop.

Only set 13. The 4 from Harmony and 1 of Jessi's were clear. The last 2 were early quitters.6 is a good start, so, when is the next batch of eggs going in?

Feb or March of 2025. That's the plan anyway.Only set 13. The 4 from Harmony and 1 of Jessi's were clear. The last 2 were early quitters.
I'm collecting eggs from Jett but Joannie hasn't started laying yet from her molt, so I'm not fully committed yet.
When are you setting?![]()

I am done for the year after this hatch, I'll lock everyone up in the clink![]()
We've been hit with some cold rainy days and frosty nights so I've held off on getting the chicks out until tomorrow, got a few 70 day times and 50 nights coming to let them acclimate a bit before the temps fall again.Feb or March of 2025. That's the plan anyway.
I have some EE eggs if you need to fill that incubator with breeds you don't need![]()
Cold and snow may be coming but it will be nice and toasty in that incubator! The eggies will be so snug and warm they won't mind that it's snowing outside at all. We've been hit with some cold rainy days and frosty nights so I've held off on getting the chicks out until tomorrow, got a few 70 day times and 50 nights coming to let them acclimate a bit before the temps fall again.
I may wait til Spring to do another hatch, cold and snow is coming soon.
