Wrath's Marans

Pics
From just a quick Google search, it sounds like there is an US and UK (English) standard.
@BlueTheBrahma please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I'm just curious if the Standards align or if there's differences between the two like Marans?
I've never even looked up the SOP! I didn't know there was more than 1. 🤔

I didn't dig too deep other than noticing feathered feet are a breed standard with both, unlike the UK (English) Standard for Marans calls for clean legs and there are other suttle differences. The US (APA) follows the French Standard. I believe the UK are the only entity in the world that calls for clean legs. All the rest follow the French Standard.
Again, BlueTheBrahma please correct me if I'm mistaken here.

I almost forgot I took more pics of the babies to show off that big guy compared to the others.
They'll be 10 wks tomorrow and he's got the most color on his back and he seems to have a nice tail so far also.
A few pics are blurry but show his height/size.

Here's a crappy pic but it shows the 3 boys up top. He's on the right. This pic really shows his mass compared to the others.

On the right again, barn cat walked by outside the run as I was taking the pic so they all went red alert mode.

He's got huge feet! My gloves don't give the best perspective and if he was all conditioned and wasn't living the good chickie life, his feet feathers would probably look better.

I'm no expert but I think his shank/feet feathering is correct. I think their suppose to be heavy feathered.

Before this is over I see a Brahma coop being built here...ugh.

Edited to add....ooooohh, they lay brown eggs too. Cuz I need more brown eggs. 😋

The bottom guy is one of my Swedish Flower Hens, he's a good sized boy and totally dwarfed by the Brahma.

Do they call them roosters Swedish Flower Hens or Swedish Flower Roosters? I’ve never really thought about it before but a have always heard people say hens like it’s part of the breed’s name. I don’t know anything about the breed standards but both of those guys are very good looking roosters to my eyes.

I don’t know the US standard well but I’m almost certain they are the same, the wording may differ but it will describe the same things.

The Brahma, while an Asiatic breed, was actually standardised in the USA, and it was five of these birds that were shipped to Queen Victoria and they became the UK’s Brahmas, our primary meat bird until feeding them cheap waste was banned so the cost outweighed the sale price.

Breeders here helped develop the breed closely with American breeders, and Wyandotte and Cochin blood was added to produce new colours.

But as far as I’m aware, I can judge by the UK standard and it should be about the same as the USA SOP (points may vary buts it’s a good rough idea). I find the I can judge French type marans with the UK judging criteria, so it should be even closer for Brahmas.

Alright, photos! Sorry they are still not great. He wouldn't hold still, and if he was still then another cockerel would walk between us. Or he'd be coming up dancing around me.

I’m going to give you a points breakdown later when I’m free, but he’s a lovely looking bird. When he fattens up he’ll be incredible, don’t forget Brahmas aren’t done growing until they are 2!

When I finally sort out my Brahma flock’s fertility issues, I’ll have plenty more photos to share to make you jellous! 😂

Mine lay cream coloured eggs, they fit well in boxes between leghorn and red star eggs. I go: legbar, leghorn, Brahma, red star, welsummer, marans.
