Wrath's Marans

I hope you get some good olive Egger pullets. I love my Olive Eggers. My girl Blue is my favorite and as you can see by her back she is also my Rooster’s favorite. She is the most friendly hen I have and one of the most protective she regularly lays 4-5 days in a row then takes one day off. My only issue with her is that she refuses to use the nest boxes and always lays her eggs in the far corner of the coop so I have to go inside the run and retrieve them from the back door.

Her daughter is almost 17 weeks old and looks almost just like her. Same colors feathered legs, full beard. Only real difference is she has a straight comb and her mother has a pea comb. I’m still waiting to see if she inherited the blue egg gene

Try placing a cardboard box in that corner she lays in. If she takes to it, you could gradually move it closer towards the nest boxes all sneaky like...👍

Both your girls are stunning and looking forward to seeing what color she lays. 🙂

Her favorite corner is next to the chicken door. I did try blocking it with a milk crate turned upside down. If she can’t get to the corner she lays her egg directly in front of the chicken door. This causes traffic jams while she is laying and broken eggs once she leaves. I have also tried picking her up and moving her into the nest box when I notice that she is about to lay. She is stubborn

I almost peed myself laughing :lau

Most of the time I push my luck with my broodies, and yes, I've been bit and pecked, I just tell myself "Whatever, I'm not gonna be punked out by a chicken", but when I went to get pics of her first chicks and that nut came flying at me like a rooster and kept on keeping on until she thought I was far enough back, that was the end of it🤣 Most of my broodies could care less, all talk, no action, but apparently Onyx has been taking kickboxing classes in her spare time!
Momma was pretty mean last year. But this year she's mellowed a little. Copper is just vicious 🤣. She's always been a little bullyish ,so we'll see how she does in motherhood.

She wants to lay where she wants to lay, and apparently the boxes should be directly in front of the door...duh🤣

🤞 Onyx is bottom of the pecking order (not counting the grow outs) and she's a "B", but a fantastically psycho mom!
