Wrath's Marans

I've got 3 of them too, they are great little gadgets! That's how I new my NR360 was freaking out with the last hatch, I thought for sure it would be terrible (temps going from 98.6 to 101.2) but it ended up being ok. After that I said enough is enough, I can't trust this damn thing, lol.

That was a score !
They are nifty...I've got one under the heater setting on turner and not bothering the eggs. I may pull it out at the 7 day candle if everything is consistent.

My little giant incubator is all over the place this round. I think it’s the egg turner changing the airflow as the eggs slowly tip left to right. You can watch the temperature change in a 4 hour cycle 2 hours heating up followed by 2 hours cooling down. The egg turner claims to turn the eggs 6 times a day. It’s got me nervous.

The graph of the temperature changes look a lot like what I would expect from the heater element cycling on and off. The more you can insulate the incubator from external temperatures the less the extreme the changes will be.
The little heating led looks like it’s cycling several times a minute mostly just flickering. If I stick a meat thermometer in the air vent holes it appears to always be 98 degrees on the air intake side and always around 101 on the exhaust side which is sort of expected it’s going to be coolest where it pulls in fresh air and hotter where it exists after the air has moved across the heating element.

I really do think it’s just poor placement of the govee but I’m limited in where I can put the govee because of the egg turner mechanism. Since the meat thermometer is constant I figure that most of these 42 eggs are likely in the Goldy Locks zone not too hot and not too cold.

I just hate that none of my thermometers agree. It’s like the old saying “a man with a watch know what time it is, a man with two watches is never really sure”. These are just “free” eggs from my own flock. I’ll candle them sometime in the next couple days and see if thing look like they’re going OK

Now we're talking, I'm sure she hated every minute of it 🤣❤️
I don't know who was more excited. Me or Her 🤣

She got upset when I took her temp eggs and golf ball away (Not ripping flesh like Copper upset), but then I set each egg in front of her and they each disappeared under her one by one...♥️

That's adorable. I can't wait until I have a broody. In a perfect world, next spring.

It's my favorite part of owning chickens. I read a lot about some would rather hatch as they like the hands on friendly chicks and that broody raised are more skittish. This doesn't bother me as much as I love the instant integration aspect and I find the pullets become friendlier around POL.
I found last year when Roady my most docile and friendly BA who became 'hell on high heels' to her flock mates, but would bring her chicks over to me and 2 of the 3 pullets have turned out to be just as friendly. So I feel that points to maybe I just have a rare gem or it's definitely hereditary temperament much like breeding a human aggressive roo, but the other side of the spectrum. She raised the bar substantially in the broody department still caring for them til roughly 16 weeks.

Now to get Kong to go broody....🤪

Not having much faith in the Australorp broody. She runs around all screaming bloody murder if anyone gets within 10' of her, puffy turkey, and cluck cluck cluck. But doesn't want to commit to sit on the eggs full time (mainly overnight). The only saving grace is it's the favorite nest box so the eggs are incubating when others are in there.
I've tried blocking her off thinking she's getting bullied, but she'll sit for a spell and then frantically want out.
I'll leave the eggs in there awhile longer and candle them to see progress at day 7, but fear they're getting too cold.
