they had not mottled before - and the egg eating was definatley intentional. now a few seem to have foot problems - not bumblefoot but something that has a large yellowish kernal by the toil nail. Can't find any info on this.Thanks... Any changes what so ever that would cause stress? How old? When was their last molt?
Odd that all 8 would stop at once, or did they stop for molt/winter daylight and not start back up?
I've never had intentional egg eaters only accidental if an egg gets broke but that's not good to have spreading thru your flock if its intentional.
You should start a thread under emergencies/injuries so that some of the educators can help you out, they are very knowledgeable! Include pictures if possible.they had not mottled before - and the egg eating was definatley intentional. now a few seem to have foot problems - not bumblefoot but something that has a large yellowish kernal by the toil nail. If it's not bumblefoot I would do as @Auntiejessi3 suggested and make a new thread related to your issues. Sorry I couldn't help.they had not mottled before - and the egg eating was definatley intentional. now a few seem to have foot problems - not bumblefoot but something that has a large yellowish kernal by the toil nail. Congrats..Was it a surprise? How's the little BCM's doing?@wrathsfarm I woke up to babies outside. My broody cuckoo decided she wanted to hatch out some americaunaxbcm mixes![]()
We had three plop out. One just failed to thrive I think two broodies are fighting it out and accidentally trampled it, or it just got too hot (90 degrees and humid in upstate ny).Congrats..Was it a surprise? How's the little BCM's doing?
I haven't been on much here, except popping on and off. Trying to get more pens built but other stuff seems to get in the way daily.
49 chicks with 50+ more eggs under 5 broodys. I think I've hit 11 or 12 so far this year, I'll have to check my notes.
And way behind on pics....![]()
Great news ...looking forward to seeing your program grow, my friend. We had three plop out. One just failed to thrive I think two broodies are fighting it out and accidentally trampled it, or it just got too hot (90 degrees and humid in upstate ny).
The BCM's I have 5 total from my egg hatch out 3 are roosters 2 are hens. Blues had 3 - total - 2 roos & 1 hen. And my splash is going to be a great looking rooster (hes massive).
I'm behind too but plan to get my farm story up and running this weekend during the downpour maybe.
I think I've convinced the wife to let me get set up with another separate coop or two in the next year. So I can have a full bachelor flock (backups for the BBS), and then one mixed, and one Black Copper specific.
So kinda getting excited.
