Get the brightest light you can, but its still hard to see thru the dark eggs. I built my own so I'm using a 5k led bulb, but I'm pretty lazy when it comes to candling. I just candled a few of Solos eggs under Angel with 4/5 days to go and found most developing.Any tips for candleing the darker marans eggs? Also, do you candle eggs that a broody has been sitting on or just leave her be?
You recommend it?Trust Brinsea to make an expensive, but excellent one;

I bought this and am glad I did - I can take it out to the hen house and it still candles perfectly in broad daylight. The high intensity blasts through dark eggshells.
Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT look at the light. Accidentally... when standing over the candler... and you have moved the screen and egg.....lololololol![]()
I don't think I can justify spending $100 to candle 5 eggs but that's pretty cool. If you plan on hatching a lot, I can see it being worth it.Trust Brinsea to make an expensive, but excellent one;
