Writing a program... need your opinion

Hello there,

I am in the begging stages of creating a program(script...) that is going to rely on a database. So This is where you come in.
Op. 1) Would you rather have the info hosted on a server and you login to see it.
Or
op. 2) would you rather have it on your home computer.

If number one that means i have to figure out a login system/userid system.

If Number 2 i need to include an installation file.

With op. #2 you would be the only one that could ever get the info (because it's stored directly on your computer). The only thing is you would need to install Xampp (simple very simple) and Copy a folder over to that directory. Of course all this info would be included in documation & Pictures would be included (maybe even a you tube vid.).

depends - what sort of data are you storing?

If I want to get at it anywhere, then I want it on my home machine. I don't get a wireless signal everywhere.

If it's something I'd mostly be dealing with at home, then I might want it online.

Hmmmm... still a challenge to make the call.

If the online option would allow searches across different users data (say, how's everyone else in this county doing for tomatoes this year, or whatnot) then storage on a server makes sense, and could be useful.

Otherwise, I'd rather download the program. Might even want to drag my old lappy outside to do some of the work.

It's usually easier for me to access things online, but it would depend what kinds of garden info would be stored. Personally, I'd rather not have extra programs taking up space on my computer.

don't have enough info here to make a choice yet.

am I going to be on-line whenever I might use it?
or in the field?

is the use something I'd do at my desk or in my car?

really need more info about what you're thinking to offer an opinion.

rather like asking if I'd rather have a standard transmission or an automatic....
first ... in what? car? tractor? gocart? lawnmower? blender?
second... for what application? highway driving? off roading? making frozen alcoholic drinks?
