You can see in these pics how she holds her head when sitting

I really can't make the last picture out, it's hard to tell what it is.
If she can get her neck to straighten out, the feathers will follow, if anything when she molts it will help..Another question- sorry, as you know she is a silver Birchen silkie. Because her neck is twisted, the feathers on her neck ALL bend to the left, leaving the silver frill falling all to one side instead of evenly around her neck. ( does this make sense?) I'm just wondering have the feathers shifted position because of her neck twist? And will they slowly move back to where they should be making that lovely pattern, or will they never surround her neck again? Another reason I ask is I'm still wondering if her head is twisting the right way.... I'm sure she wouldn't turn it the wrong way but I'm not sure..
Thank you Deb![]()
ALRIGHT, The standing is good, she's getting strength That is really great, remember she's not going to do everything in one day, she's the chicken that likes to take baby steps, so just standing for 2 seconds is a HUGE accomplishment for her. That's GREAT to HEAR..Oh I forgot to tell you, she is STANDING!!!!!! Still wobbling around in circles but considering she s been in a box for 5 weeks I think this is great...... Today whilst on the grass she tried sooo hard to untwist her neck, shaking it and moving it up and down- god love her, but unfortunately it just stayed to the sideshe wobbled around in circles and then stood really TALL.
and stayed standing for a few minutes... Then sat again lol.. But she is definitely trying, and I'm positive she has gained weight. Not heaps but she definitely doesn't feel as boney to me. I will weigh her in morning before a feed and continue each week to see...![]()
LOL, THAT IS GREAT NEWS!!! It's ok that she falls over, she still doesn't have the strength yet but definitely a plus for trying. LOL.Ok more GREAT news this morning, after her feed I put her in grass. Yes she stood and wobbled around in circles BUT she also tried to Stretch one of her legs and wing out. You know how chickens stretch their leg straggly out the back if them and their wing in same side stretches out too?? Well that's what she did- she nearly fell over but she tried lol... Baby steps yes, but each day she is getting a fraction stronger . This girl just wows me![]()
Oh also I think she has been in moulting this whole time. She has many many new feathers and heaps that are shedding. Maybe this has prolonged her recovery? I know moulting takes it out if them, so to be sick as well, would be very very draining on her..
Thank you for staying untouched with me during thisyour a lovely person & I truly thank you xx![]()
All through this I have never asked you about yourself or your chickens ( sorry)
How many chickens do you have, what breeds?? Have you ever treated wry neck yourself? Do you show them... I'd love to see them![]()
I'd love to hear about YOU!!!
