Just went through this with a hen....it does get worse before it gets better and, yes, as they improve activity like being picked up (or stressed/startled) can certainly bring on a spasm. Keep at it, improvement can seem unbearably slow, but my girl is transitioning back to the flock this week, and started laying again yesterday....around 3 weeks from onset of symptoms. We initially had to tube feed for a week as she was not able to eat or drink sufficiently to keep her alive while the treatment was given a chance@Wyorp Rock @FarmerGirl101
Thanks for the info cus I wasn't sure what to expect. I'll keep her going on the vitamins and like I said, her head only gets bad when I'm holding her but otherwise she's okay.
This is her from today

Glad to hear she is getting better! Thank you so much for the update@Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock @FarmerGirl101 @ChickNanny13
I just wanted to update you guys about Meggy the leghorn. . . She isn't turning her head upside down anymore even when I pick her up. I've stopped with the selenium and been keeping up with the vitamin e and poulty drench. She's still really jumpy and likes to fly around. When she lays her head down she keeps it even and not laying it on one side. I didn't think she'd get better but she is. Thank you all for the advice!
