Wry neck...Treat or euthanize?? UPDATED with GREAT results!!

How do you get a chicken to drink from a dropper? I tried and tried but couldn't get her to take the polyvisol. I think most of it just dripped off her beak.

We recently bought five baby chicks to add to our current flock. Not long after one of the our RIR started showing signs of what we believed was wry neck. She was probably just a few weeks old so we separated her and I started giving her vitamins and keeping her hydrated every day. I fed her sunflower seeds and broccoli some Chia seeds and flaxseed. She is back to normal! But now one of the other five if you weeks later what we believe is a rooster started showing the same symptoms it's been about a week and he isn't responding like the other one did. Is it possible to have two chickens with wry neck in the same flock?

Sadly enough my girl Stella ended up passing away. She seemed to improve but just stopped eating; couldn't figure out why, and no matter what I tried she just wouldn't eat. My flock is healthy, I have had no other problems, so God willing that will be the end of it, and I wish all of you good luck in treating your precious littles.

I had a silkie about 11 weeks old develop wry neck I did the vit-e and selenium in the food, but since I am not big on synthetic vitamins I pulled out the homeopathy books. I gave one dose of Belladonna 30c in all the water dishes. It wont hurt the other chickens to have it, another beauty of homeopathy.. She has not had an episode in 5 days now.
I chose Belladonna because I know it helps inflammation, I was not convinced this was dietary, more likely an injury from another chicken. She didn't have it real bad as she was always able to eat and drink on her own these sessions only lasted a few minutes, Awful to watch though, my heart was breaking for her. Hopefully she will be okay now I am still giving the extra vitamin mix every other day, and will consider a different potency if it comes back,

Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread it has given me hope, I have a week old peafowl chick with Wry neck discovered this evening. Following a trip to supermarket at 23.45hrs I have now dosed the chick with vitamin A, C E +Selenium mixed with scrambled egg, we will see what the morning brings!

Quote: Marek's seems to get blamed for almost anything neurological. According to most peoples (including some Vet) Marek's is pretty much everywhere there has ever been poultry kept in the past so it is more of a question of when, not if, your birds will eventually get it. I have submitted 3 birds for necropsy to UC Davis and one of the 3 said, based on the symptoms, it was "suggestive of Marek's" but nothing definitive.

So sorry your girl didn't make it...

Peachick survived the night and is now eating on it's own and able to stand!!!
Good to hear! Hoping for a full recovery!

I have a Crested Cream Legbar cockerel about 4 months old that was showing a head tilt for the last couple of days, including this morning. By this afternoon he had the head completely twist to the side and cannot stand. He panics if I touch him. I brought him inside and he is in a cage now. He seems to stabilize if he backs into a corner but still has his head twisted. He can eat still. I started him on Poly-Vi-Sol w/o Iron, NutriDrench, Wheat Germ Oil (for Vit E) and .25 mcg of Selenium. I hope he recovers, but if I don't see any improvement within a week or so I will euthanize. I can't keep roosters here anyway and would have to rehome him and would not be able to do so in good conscience without disclosing his history. I think that would make him very difficult to find someone willing to take him on.

I have a chick with wry neck :(, at least so I believe. It is totally twisted and looks like turned around. In the morning hours she could still hold it and move, it, so it doesn't look to be broken.
Unfortunately she is our only GCM hen and the most favorite chick, so we can't let her pass away.
She wouldn't eat though anything, and I barely managed to give her couple of ml of water..
Thanks to this thread she got already 1 ml of Poly-Vi-Sol and 1 ml Tri-Vi-Sol, as well as a capsule of E vitamin and some Selenium. Will try to give her some B-complex as well with extra liquids and egg yolk.

During the day I tried to place her in a bucket on a towel to keep her in a comfortable position but we left for 3 hours and I found her turn upside down barely moving.. :(

Now she is sleeping most of the time, wouldn't stand, wouldn't eat or drink on her own.
Can it be only because it's night and her "biological clock" is making her sleep?
I'll try to get the Prednison in the morning but sounds like most likely is not something I'll get off shelf..

Is there any hope if she doesn't eat (YET)? It is just the first day of sickness... What are the chances that she will?
Thank you in advance!

She was in THEORY vaccinated against Marek, at least that's what I was told by the breeder from whom I purchased her, so I hope is not Marek, but whatever it is, I wouldn't be happy loosing her..
