I have read all the articles on how to treat and prevent wry neck. But, how do you keep them from thrashing around and flipping themselves over on their back?

She’s 3 and a polish hen. I’m giving vitamins and helping her keep her head straight to eat and drink. She can stand fine but as soon as she moves she loses balance and starts to thrash to try to get back on her feet. I would hold her all day if I could but I just have to keep checking on her to make sure she’s on her feet. Wrapping her like a baby doesn’t work lol she can get out of a swaddle. Probably not helpful to her anyway. I’ll just keep checking on her. Thank you!Welcome To BYC
I'm sorry you're having trouble.
Can you give more information?
How old is the bird, what breed, what do you feed, what treatment(s) are you giving, what are you feeding, was the bird vaccinated for Marek's, etc.?
Video is sometimes helpful - upload to youtube and provide a link.
Wry Neck is a neurological symptom. Common causes are disease like Marek's, head/neck trauma and sometimes vitamin/nutritional deficiency.
Supportive care includes giving Vitamin E and B1 (usually B-Complex) along with foods that like egg, tuna or sunflower seeds to help with the uptake of E.
Thrashing about and flipping over is neurological, so I'm not sure how one would keep that from happening. Sadly, if therapy is not working, then putting the bird out of their misery may be in order.
