wtb- hatching eggs, cheap. (ME)

I'm near Augusta. Let me know if you're in the area- be glad to pass a dozen or two fertile eggs (of that straight feather mix I mentioned) along. Good luck!

I do suggest just getting live chicks, though, if you're looking for any straight feathered chickens and are getting tired of disappointments with poor hatches. It wil actually save you $ and headaches in the end, in my experience. The only eggs I hatch are of chickens I intend to show/breed that are of types that are harder to find in live chicks. (Like Silkies and Showgirls, for instance.)

But you can get buff orpingtons, wyandottes, sex linked, sp. sussex, giants, etc... for $1.50/chick through most farmer supply stores right now. Cheap cheap!

I am in just outside of Bangor and work in town. I will set you up for what I sell eggs for eating for if you can meet me.

I have a cuckoo marans roo over 3 cuckoo hens, 1 barred rock, 3 white cochins (2 are broody right now though- so no eggs from them) and a buff orp. The eggs are fertile. I have a dozen due to hatch this weekend.

Send me a PM if you are interested in setting something up.

I was wondering if humidity is supposed to be lower for a still air incubator? I'm somewhat new to incubating and from what I have read set up my incubator at 100, 58-60% humidity for a forced air. First test hatch of my own "mutts" was 13/13; 2nd of white legorn, RIR, and araucana was 43/48 with 5 not developing (from neighbor); 3rd I got all cocky (pardon the pun) and went for eBay (before I knew about you guys, sorry) and bought 8+ Welsummers (received 12, but 1 broken) and 6 RI Whites (1 broken), and hatched 8 Welsummers (1 died, 2 didn't pip) and 5 RIW. I'm going to stick with that setup for as long as it works, cause those eggs traveled across the country.

If I were you, I would see if a neighbor (I use that term loosely because were I grew up the closet one was a mile away.) has any fertile eggs. The 2nd batch of 48 cost me $5. Best of luck, and happy hatching!

No money- just free. We get so many eggs we often just cook them and feed them back to the chickens! Our neighbors and friends benefit, too! Again, these would be out of Black Star hens with an Americana (rumpless) roo. (Americanas are of the Easter Egger type.)

I'm in Augusta Mon, Tues, and Thurs. (Do you know where the UMA campus is? At the Civic Center- across from Wal-Mart- second Augusta exit off the highway if you're heading north bound.) Just give me a head's up if so.
