Hello!

We got 6 chicks from Southern States right before Easter. Yup...you guessed it. One of them's a roo. He's a beauty, and we love him, but they're not allowed in our county (Chesterfield, VA). He started with some awkward pubescent crowing yesterday.

He was named Michonne, but now we call him Rick. (TWD Fans will understand.)

We'd love to find him a home where he'll be appreciated in all his glory. And we'd also love to have a girl in exchange. We have 2 Plymouth Rocks, 2 Buff Orps and 2 Golden Wyandottes, so we'd be down one rock. A layer that could show the other girls what to do would be good, but a similarly-aged young lady would be welcome, too.

Looking in the Richmond/Central-Virginia area. Powhatan, Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland counties, maybe Louisa.

I hate to tell you this, but roosters...aren't worth much. He's pretty, but he's worth almost exactly as much as a layer that's almost stopped laying. You are highly unlikely to get a trade. I buy my breeding roosters for a dollar a piece at the auction in the fall.

Yeah. Hey, at least they allow chickens. Some of our neighboring counties don't. I'm assuming Ag zoning allows them, but not Residential.

And Sylvie, I'm assuming roosters are pretty much worthless. I'm hoping someone around here has lotsa room to add to their flock/family. Our priorities are: placement first, trade for pullet second (almost as a bonus). Hope that makes sense.
