The marans are black coppers. He has birds from a few of the major players in BCM's and has very dark egg layers but, is consistently culling for health and size of bird. He is very knowledgable and has been in the poultry business for many years. I am pming you his contact info if you'd like to speak with him

ETA: Please post or pm me your websites and blogs. Im adding them to the Chickenstock blog

Thanks so much! Everyone else, PLEASE do the same. This is the way to a successful event is by getting word out. If your local feed store, gas station, hardware store doesn't have this flyer on their window/bulletin, you're not doing enough. This is a COMMUNITY EVENT ..not an Erin event

This flyer looks AWESOME printed out on glossy photo paper. You can buy the cheapest, thinnest, lowest quality photo paper and it still looks high quality and professional.

I added the flyer to my FB page. I can post one at the Jeff Co Fair if no one else is.

Erin-loving the quail. Will you have some more girls? How hard are they to hatch? Thinking I could deal w/them better than chickens...much faster turnaround and shorter grow out time!

Are they laying yet? I thought they were getting pretty close. Quail are awesome!!! Start hatching now and you'll have good breeders by fall... that's how fast. I have 70 eggs in the bator now

Yup, they've been laying over a week now. The eggs are HUGE in comparison to the birds I think. The male I really don't like killed the one I really did. darn birds. Hubby working too much OT to get a larger pen built for me so I have to stick w/3 for awhile. What kind of pen do you have? I really want to put them on the ground but am not sure.

I've never had them outside. I just get the eggs online and hatch and sell. I am planning on keeping some of these because I will finally have the room. I want them for eggs and meat. I always plan on slaughtering them ... then wind up selling them as I just don't want to mess

BUT, I did kill 3 cornish crosses this year and processed them myself so I definitely think I can.. they're just so dern cute
