Erin, I called my poultry extension about getting my birds tested and their is no one near enough. Would you mind giving me the person's information that tested your birds? I need to get my birds tested for the Susquehana Poultry Show.
I am so there! I'll be all over those rosecombs! I wish I had something to trade. With some luck I'll have surplus chicks by then and *maybe* seb goslings. I do want to get npip certified. Is there a min age your chicks need to be to get tested?
I just remembered about the polish eggs I've got cooking. I got them in an assortment and they should be nice quality but polish just don't thrill me. I'll def bring for trading if they hatch.
What about quarratining birds we bring home? How long would you isolate them and would you keep all new birds together or seperate them further into the ones you got from different people?
If you have the room, I'd isolate separately. I wrote a quarantine strategy on the first post I think would be a smart way to go... Mostly, common sense is important. Look at the birds closely and don't bring home anything that isn't a picture of health... And don't bring anything that isn't a picture of health
So whats everyone bringing??? I cant wait....Ill probably have some mix eggs from my Delaware roo and my RIR hens and Red Sexlink hens. They will make excellent layers. I may have some Black Rosecomb eggs and some of those mix eggs. I will probably have some Silver Laced Cochin Bantam chicks and some Silver Penciled Wyandotte chicks and maybe some Rhode Island Reds and Delawares. Also maybe some EEs. Im stalking up on eggs and chicks now. The bator is full and will be until the swap!! Cant wait!!!
ETA: if I go pick up some Buff Orpington chicks and get them started...will anyone be interested?

It depends. Where are you getting them from?
I haven't decided what I am going to bring yet. At this point in the season...I want to keep them all. I will bring any silkie babies that I am not going to keep, dark brahma bantams, california white x buff orpington, etc. That is if both of my hatches go well between now and then. I am due on the 13th. And then maybe on 4/3 and if I push it and everything is in my favor again on 4/24.
