WV Spring ChickenStock Sat. April 24 8-12 TSC Martinsburg

I sold all of my silkies as soon as I got there. I also sold black Cochin pullets, silver laced Wyandotte hens, blue and splash Orpington hens a buff Orpington pair, a lemon blue splash bantam Cochin roo and my 4 girls and 1 boy French black copper marans. I also sold some hatching eggs. I brought home two Orpington roos that everyone thought was too big for their ladies, lol. I had plenty of time to visit.

It was great. Peachick made everyones day with chicks and peacock feathers. I cannot wait to see my lilies in bloom. We bought honey...made new friends...visited with old friends...and the rain held off until we were packed up.

The lady who set up beside of me was also from Berkeley Springs. Her name is Patty but that is all I know. She had the black and white bunny. I will have to call Jonathan to get her number.

Kelpie, your birds were gorgeous. I wish when we were visiting that you would have mentioned your upcoming plans. I would love to know the details. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials. I told Only (your white silkie boy) that you said hello.

Cathy, I will pm you that number when Dave and the boys get back with my car.

Sorry to all of those who didn't make it. You missed out on all the fun.

Soaring Chicks...did you enjoy your first time setting up?

Yes she did!

Yes I did. Yeah I wish I saw your BCs I'd got them. They thought my roo was to big too. One lady really wanted him but the hubby said he would cause a whole lot of trouble that he would have to deal with. So he got his way. He was to big for what ever they had. I'm to meet a guy around 5pm to see if he will take him. I really do not care if I sell the wheaton roo I could use him some where? Would like to place him.
I sold some of my homemade Fig Jam. So that was good too.
Tammy may I give one of the leghorn pullets a home for you?

I didn't end up with any leghorns. She brought that little pair and the rest were straight run. I decided to pass but I told Kat that if she didn't sell the pair that I would take them. I need another rooster like I need a hole in the head. I am going to a big chicken swap and show this weekend, so I hope to buy some leghorn pullets there. If not...I will just order more California White leghorns from Cackle Hatchery. That is where my others came from.

Oh, and my black coppers were sold in advance. I had them on craigslist and nursecat bought them all. I was just delivering them. Get with her. I am sure she will sell you some eggs and you won't have to pay for shipping. They are Bev Davis french black copper lines.

Oh I thought she was bring 6 of them. Well I'll sell you some next spring! I thought you got the other pullets.I thought she said Tammy, I must have heard her wrong with the sworm of people while I was getting mine. Sorry! I'm inline to get more blues and leghorn pullets from her.

Did you get your D'uccles

I still have the d'Uccles because I didn't make it (see previous post), sorry. It is possible that I could bring them to MD when I go to visit my mother in the next month or so. Are you far from Montgomery Co.? You could PM me if still interested.

I hope and plan to make the next one in the fall. Love hearing about it from everyone and wish I had been there.

Thanks so much for posting pictures of the event!!

Will there be one in the fall and any chance it could start later in the day? I would have had to leave at 4 am and drive alone 3 or 4 hours in the dark and because of age and health I am not as comfortable about it as I would have been 40 or 50 years ago.

I am having the same size problem with the Lav Orp mix roo I got from you Tammy

I love him and he has been a good boy for me, but after putting him with my girls today, I think I am going to have to find him a new home. He is easily twice their size and weight and just throws them around like ragdolls, not to be mean, I think he is just used to bigger girls. When he does manage to get one into position, he smushes them into the ground lol. I am scared one of them is going to get hurt. Sorry! I honestly do not have much roo experience, so I didn't even think about size being an issue. I hate to let him go, but I will find him a good home, I promise. Your Splash boy was absolutely gorgeous, my daughter reallllly wanted me to get him instead, but jeez, he was even bigger than the one I took! LoL

My girls are all small in comparison to the Splash girl I got from you (but they are not quite a year old yet). Boy do you grow big, healthy chickens!! She is an absolute sweetheart though and has gotten along great with my girls since putting her with them. Thanks!!!

I hope I can get the eggs to hatch that I got from you
