I purchased a Wyandotte hen at point of lay. I was told she is a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, but I don't have a lot of confidence in the identification skills of the person I got her from. She is a very sweet hen but I am curious as to how she is Blue Laced Red. If I was identifying her variety, I would call her a Red Laced White. I don't see any blue or silver on her. So how are Wyandottes identified? It sounds like the varieties come from the color of the "lace", but what is that? Do they breed to type? I will attempt to attach a pic when I can get to my home computer.
