Wyandotte

How many eggs per week do your Wyandottes Lay .
I was wanting to compare the Hatchery birds VS the birds raised for
Show Conformation. I know sometimes that is all that is bred for most jsut want enough eggs to raise replacement birds.
I am also new to the group! I will get the first group of Wyandotte hatching eggs next week . These are from show lines. Beautiful birds.
My hatchery Wyandottes (purchased from McMurray Hatchery in 2011) each laid over 250 eggs in their first year. The Columbian laid 299, to be exact. They continue to lay probably 4-5 eggs a week, each, though they are now four years old.

That is really good for a dual purpose birds. I have always heard that they White Wyandottes were the best layers of all of the color variations.
I am going to order a few of the Columbian Silver and the Golden from MC Murrays to see how they compare that Wy they will all be about the same size and age.
The birds I am getting eggs from are really nice birds.
How do McMurrays compare for type etc.?
Thanks again take care of those ole girls they di serve it.

Like most hatchery birds, they are not very show quality. They lack the size (my Wyandottes probably weigh around 5 or 5 1/2 pounds, whereas the standard weight is 6.5 lbs). My Silver Laced Wyandotte doesn't have the wide tail, either, and her lacing quality is rather poor. My Columbian isn't as bad. She actually has very good color. Her tail could certainly be wider, but is better than the Silver Laced Wyandotte's. If she was a couple of pounds heavier, she would be decent.

Here are some photos of my birds from McMurray (keep in mind that these birds were from 2011- McMurray's birds have probably changed somewhat since then):
