You've had more snow than we've had up here. We might have 3" on the ground. Our coldest night was last night with -5. Right now it is +5 with sunshine. We had to forego our trip to Billings for Christmas with the sub-zero temperatures. Just not worth the risk for old people.:old

Chickens are complaining about having to stay inside but the egg laying is picking up. 5 eggs so far today. :ya

There is only about 6" to 8" on the ground here, a lot of the early stuff melted off. I waited until it got up to zero before I did my walk to the mailbox. Coming back I worked up sweat from the sun shining on my back making it feel like it was 80°F on my back while I was still breathing 0°F air.

I am down to 3 chickens laying but they are laying almost every day.

Sounds like both of you got more than we did down here in Carbon county. Just think, if we didn't have so much wind, we'd probably have a lot more snow! I think most of our snow blew into Nebraska :p

Today was almost balmy, it was in the 20's and the sun was shining for the most part.

Chickens laying? What's that?? Mine are taking the winter off, I might as well ship them off to enjoy a Caribbean cruise for all the egg laying that's happening here.

It got all the way up to 2°F here today but it is already back down to -6°F. Enjoy your warmth while you can.

20 degrees sounds wonderful right now. We're at -2 last time I looked.

The Leghorn/Legbars haven't laid an egg for a couple of weeks but the Welsummer are giving me 1 or 2 eggs each day. (I have 4 of them) The Speckled Sussex are taking turns laying. (2 of them) If it wasn't for the pullets I would have had a lot of days without eggs this fall. I think the egg laying should pick up a lot more soon. Usually in January I have enough eggs to start hatching. But I'll try to wait until March to hatch. (I said I'll try but no guarantees!) :D
