I managed to sell a couple so I am down to 24 now. That is still a long way from the 8 that I would like to carry through the winter.Nice! About how many turkeys do you have now Bob?

Most of them are too small for that. I do have 2 four month old toms that will be going on craigslist tomorrow.Well, Thanksgiving is coming![]()
Yesterday a juvenile male Red-winged Blackbird tried to commit silly-cide. Instead of reaching through the bars to get the suet cake, he crawled down into the holder and wedged himself in so tight that he could not move. From a distance it looked like he was dead. Up close it was hard to tell that he was alive but he was not in rigor mortis. He was holding onto to the bars as tight as he could with his feet and pushing himself against the bottom of the suet holder. It took a little work to get him to let go with his feet. I managed to get one foot loose and stretched back away from the suet holder but that just made him hold on tighter with the other foot. I finally managed to get that foot loose and the leg pulled back. I gave a gentle push up from the bottom. Once I got him pushed up far enough for him to unfold his wings he practically boiled out of there and flew away.

I am now down to 12 total turkeys left which is not that far from the 8 that I want to carry through the winter.
