The top was supposed to be my black polish bantam... I don't know what happened to that, and the bottom is a rhode island red... I think they are mixed though... with four roosters you never know...

Awww, how exciting! Fall is my favorite season but Spring is by far the season that makes me smile the most. Yay babies!

It is a beautiful day in Cheyenne! Anyone else getting outside today and enjoying the pre-spring weather? I think I'm going to get my bulbs planted today. Black and pink lillies and black hollyhocks! Super excited for warm weather.

It's been so unseasonal here it's crazy. We're supposed to start seeing 60s all next week. You're more ambitious than I am, I'm afraid. I just don't trust this weather - I know that spring bulbs can probably go in quite safely, but I'm too gun shy to even try!

Hope to move the babies outside today. Ken's not been feeling well - he just got out of the hospital with a bad bout of acute pancreatitis, so we're a little behind. I swore I'd never brood chicks in the house again, but here I sit with 11 of the little boogers in the living room. <sigh> That's what happens when the "awwww" factor overcomes the "wait" factor, I guess. I'd ordered chicks for April 1st delivery but we were in Shipton's Big R in Billings last Sunday when we knew they were getting theirs, and, well, the rest is history. I came home with what I wanted, cancelled my mail order, and aside from the timing being a little off I don't regret that decision! Shipton's is the only place I'll ever get chicks again after seeing their unloading procedures! WOW, was I impressed!

Mama Heating Pad is working just wonderfully! No more heat lamps and noisy chicks all night for me! Today the plan is to get the divider up in the run, set up the frame and heating pad, and get them outside so they can start getting used to the bigs out there and the bigs can get used to the littles. Makes integration so much easier, as I learned with Scout.

Beautiful in Buffalo today! Got rid of a lot of the snow.
Moved 11 babies out to the brooder, cleaned the henhouse, unplugged all the heat lamps and water heaters, and fought with the tom turkey.
Pretty quiet day actually!

Another beautiful day! Red Horse, you were much more productuve than I was that is for sure. But the Bbq at the end of the day was well worth the laziness throughout the rest of the day.
