Who's getting snow?

I am!

Didn't expect it (it wasn't forecast) but the wind is blowing and the snow is falling, sideways.

Hope we don't get much.

Anyone else seeing some of that white stuff?

It has been snowing here all day. hard to tell how much since a lot of it was melting as fast as it came down. This is just normal spring weather in Wyoming. I haven't been through a May yet without some snow.

I was working here in the summer of 1970. The first 3 days of June were constant rain which finished up by turning to snow on the third day. It wasn't the last time I saw snow in June here.

I remember back in 20 aught 14...we got snow on the 6th of June. <sigh> It ain't ever over 'til it's over. No snow here today and not expecting any tonight. Bundle up, and keep your eyes on August, my friends!

There were at least 6 chicks hatched before I went to bed last night. When I checked on them this morning there were at least 22 hatched.

I am too old and to inflexible to be able to contort my body into the shape needed to get better pics through a dirty hatcher window.

Sapphire chicks.

Wish I could take them all but 10 to 15 of the Sapphires is the best I can do. I want your Welsummers and the Speckled Sussex too!

Bob, are the Sapphires auto-sexing?

Are you up around Casper? We were there all day yesterday, shopping for the golf course and generally enjoying ourselves. Beautiful country, we drove through a lot of fog and skies were gray on the way up but clear and gorgeous on the way home.

I've started a campaign to get a few chicks and Casper is just about 2 hours from us so not a terrible drive. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

No, the Sapphires are not auto sexing and from the few I glanced at this morning, they were either all roosters or the feather sexing also does not work on them.

It does appear that the Rose Comb Brown Leghorn/Cream Legbar crossed back to a Cream Legbar rooster have retained the legbar auto sexing trait. There are chicks with big clear white spots on their heads and their are those that are not.

You should have stopped by, at least you could have gotten a chick fix even if not actually getting any chicks. Of course there are the other things also. I am approximately 3 miles north of the Hat Six exit on I-25 on the east side of Casper.

I am still pulling chicks out of the hatcher this morning and transferring them to the brooder in the coop.
