I was really surprised when the ones here bloomed...amazing how anything that tall stands up with all the wind we get. Maybe a window well is good protection![]()
Beautiful!
I have been seeing a few Emerald Wasps around this year. The cherries are sour cherries and if you like sour cherries they are good. I got 2 pies and 4 batches of jam from them this year. I really like that the Evans Bali cherry trees will grow and produce fruit here. They are said to be hardy to zone 3.Bob, don't think I've seen an Emerald Wasp before, interesting!

Last fall I planted some of the cherry seeds in the garden and they came up and are still growing. I need to get them taller in the garden so I can transplant them to more appropriate sites.
Yesterday I managed to beat the robins to enough currants to make currant muffins. My breakfast this morning was a cup of coffee and a currant muffin. It was really good.
I do have lots and lots of currant plants to give away. They are the first plant to get leaves in the spring along with their pretty yellow blossoms. Mine have been through winters that killed my elm trees and never suffered any damage other than split branches from heavy snows.Yay for currant muffins! How nice you can grow some.
