I know that you think of your chickens as pets but for better egg production, it is time to replace them with newer models.

You're right, I do think of them as pets. As of last year, I was still getting more eggs then DH & I could use. I'll see how they do this summer.

It took almost 50 years for this Angel Wing Begonia to bloom. An uncle gave us a start from his plant not long after we were married. This plant has lived in a lot of different houses with us. And today we noticed the 1st blooms ever.

Beautiful plant!

It's the same up here. It was 52 degrees this morning when we took our walk. By 2:00 it was 12 degrees with up to 40 mph gusts. And snowing. :tongue
No snow here yet. The high for the day was 46°F at 2:47 AM. It is currently 24°F and the wind is howling from the north. I am sure the snow is on its way.

Beautiful!! You finally got the growing conditions right to get it to bloom. What I am seeing is they like the morning sun but should have filtered sunlight in the afternoon. There is mention of needing a higher potassium level in fertilizers with the planting medium kept moist but not soggy.
